06.19.11 - San Francisco Coffee Company. Celtic Music.

Published Jun 19, 2011, 7:50am

Me Guiness

I've been desperate for an "American-style" cup of coffee. You just can't really get filtered coffee most places here. For the most part, it's all expresso shots watered down, an Americano, or they just make expresso and put a shitload of milk in with it. I was right that a cafe named after an American city would have filtered coffee, but it was super weak, like gas station coffee. BUT you can use there WiFi for free if you buy a cup of coffee. I also had a salami sandwich, which was decent.

After a bit of internetting on yet another cold and rainy day, I headed down to Marienplatz to see what was going on. It's a main tourist destination, so there is pretty much always something going on in Marienplatz. I stumbled onto some Irish music stage with people singing Celtic music in English. I had an overpriced Guinness, stared at the drunks a while, and headed on. There were a ton of street vendors selling all sorts of arts and crafts stuff. I walked for a while in the drizzle, but then it started to pour again, so I headed back home.

I stopped at the Hauptbahnhof though, and had some train station Chinese food. There are two Chinese places in the train station, and both are pretty good. This time I ate as AsiaHung. It wasn't what I expected, but vegetables and hard to find in Munich, so I was happy.
